Dove Review
“Wildflower” is a movie that shows the importance of compassion when a 12-year-old girl named Ellie Perkins (Reese Witherspoon) befriends Alice Guthrie (Patricia Arquette), a deaf girl who is locked away in a shed by her stepfather and mother. The stepfather is a bit crazy but thinks Alice is possessed. Jack Perkins (Beau Bridges) falls in love with Alice and helps Ellie take care of her.
When Jack reads a poem to Alice, she is able to memorize it because she can read lips. So Ellie convinces her grandmother to tutor Alice. This nicely acted movie features themes of perseverance, compassion, and love. The storyline shows what a difference determination can make!
