Dove Review

“Sleeping Beauty,” the beloved story based on Grimm’s fairy tale, is an enchanting adventure for young and old. This rendition of the timeless classic features magical fairies who take the role of Princess Felicity’s protectors and bless her with priceless character traits soon after her birth. Unfortunately, she also encounters the wicked fairy Odelia who speaks a curse of death over her that will take place after her sixteenth birthday.

Felicity’s parents, the King and Queen, are heartbroken at Odelia’s words and reach out to Primrose, one of Felicity’s fairy godmothers, to protect her and reverse the power of the curse. Spunky Primrose is dedicated to her young charge and determined to keep her from harm as she speaks words to change the curse from death to a deep sleep lasting 100 years.

The dreadful day comes soon after the princess’ sixteenth birthday and the entire kingdom is frozen in time in a deep sleep. Years pass and dangerous brambles overgrow the kingdom. Those in the surrounding lands stay far away from the palace as the powerful sorcery of Odeila keeps the palace trapped in slumber. The legend of the Sleeping Beauty, however, continues to be told throughout the land for many years and captures the heart of brave Prince Richard who lives many miles away. He travels to the edge of the kingdom, determined to break the spell, win the heart of Felicity and free those trapped under the curse.

Families of all ages will delight in this timeless tale of love, beauty, magic and romance. We are happy to approve this film for viewers of all ages with the Dove “Family-Approved” Seal.
