Behind The Glass Door – Hannahs Story
This film reveals both the tremendous challenges and deep joys of raising a child with a developmental disability.
Autistic children are all around us, but do we understand the emotional challenge and turmoil their families go through? One in 2,500 children is diagnosed with some type of autism, and one in four are girls. This is an informative documentary about one family’s strength as they endure the testing and learning process not only for their daughter Hannah, but also for themselves. As they receive the news that their youngest daughter has PDD (Pervasive Developmental Disorder) and is on the autism spectrum, the film shows how they never give up and work hard to help their child. Searching for help through books, organizations and medical personnel—although autism cannot be cured—they pull together a group of people who help Hannah develop skills so she can live a somewhat productive life. Most importantly, they never give up on their faith. This documentary describes the stress and frustration of a family struggling with this disease. It is an enlightening story that will help viewers understand autism and those who are raising a child with it. We are proud to award this documentary the Dove “Family-Approved” Seal for all ages.
