Derek and Hansel are modeling again when an opposing company attempts to take them out of the business.
“Zoolander 2” is the follow up to 2001’s first “Zoolander” movie and, to quote our Dove Foundation reviewer, Dick Rolfe, it was a “tasteless loser.” If I may borrow that line from Mr. Rolfe, that pretty much sums up “Zoolander 2.” Other than maybe two or three laughs at the most — and that is because of how inane and insipid it is — the jokes just aren’t funny in this film. This movie is flat, silly, and, at times, even a bit offensive. For example, one line is about Al-Qaeda’s “explosive” new clothing line. Ha, ha, very funny.
Despite the bad jokes, it features big-name actors like Ben Stiller, Will Ferrell, Penélope Cruz, Owen Wilson, and Kiefer Sutherland. I prefer watching Ben Stiller in “Night at the Museum” a whole lot more than in this. For one thing, that film is much more family friendly. In fact, all three of the “Night at the Museum” movies were awarded our Dove “Family-Approved” Seal. This film features adults talking to a teen boy about sexual escapades, comments about orgies, innuendos, very strong language in spots, and Ben Stiller’s character, Derek Zoolander, fondling Penélope Cruz on screen. I could elaborate on the senseless plot, but it is pretty much pointless. One example I will give is that a group of people, male and female, are pregnant from an orgy. This movie doesn’t come close to earning our Dove Seal. What a waste of talent it is.
