Drop Off

When thirteen year old Tim Parker and his underprivileged buddies have a million dollars dropped in their laps by criminals on the run, it seems like an answer to their prayers. In need of an adult to help them deposit the miracle money without asking too many questions, Tim and his friends enlist the help of Winston Pruitt, the town drunk. But when Winston starts to sober up, he begins not only asking questions but teaching the boys some lessons learned through a turbulent past. Now pursued by crooks and cops alike, the boys soon must ask – can money buy happiness, or only more costly and dangerous problems?

Dove Review

Tim, Josh and Cruz are the best of friends. They ride dirt bikes and dream of having money. One day while riding, money literally falls in their laps. The boys, thinking it will make all their lives better, decide not to tell anyone about their find. But they have another problem. How can they help the people around them if they cannot put it in the bank? They pick the most likely person to help them—Winston, the man who lives at Tim’s mom’s boarding house.

The boys soon find out having money is not everything in life; it can cause more trouble than they ask for. Each boy has some problem they are dealing with. Tim’s mom has financial problems with the boarding house, Cruz’s grandfather needs surgery, and Josh is not sure about his foster parents wanting him. But Winston helps the boys see that life goes on, and not everything is as it seems.

This is a charming story of friendship, telling the truth, keeping promises and not keeping secrets. Also when money falls from nowhere, it is important to find where it cam from or you may be in trouble. We are proud to award the Dove Family-Approved Seal for ages 12-plus, due to some language issues.
