Straight-laced, type-A personality Joy Miles has to take an unscheduled road trip to drive her forgetful, yet opinionated, mother-in-law Loraine from Louisville, Kentucky, to Savannah, Georgia. Although initially impatient and frustrated, Joy begins to realize her true affection for Loraine as she takes a front-seat view of how this strong-willed yet free-spirited woman manages the emotional transition of learning to live life after losing her spouse. Despite their many differences, and with light-hearted adventures at every turn, they discover how much they respect and even need each other.
Joy is a very busy woman who runs her own sales training company. A new client wants a presentation by Monday morning instead of Wednesday. The only problem is she is helping her mother-in-law Loraine move to a new home over the weekend. Now Loraine has missed her flight, and Joy has to drive her. No problem—Joy can work and get both jobs done. Or can she?Loraine, on the other hand, is moving her life in a new direction, new home and new area. She has been in her present home for a lot of years while her husband was the pastor to the church next door. She has things on her mind about the past and what the future may bring. As the two woman travel together, they find a few “bumps” in the road but also learn a lot about each other. The comedy is delightful. It is a wonderful and very entertaining movie about family. We are proud to award the Dove Faith-Friendly Seal for all ages to “Savannah Sunrise.”
