Dove Review

Mica and Mary love visiting Bibletown, where the Son shines in an idyllic playground where kids can enjoy hearing Christian stories. The two visit Brook, a talking owl known for being a source of Christian stories. Brook does not disappoint and recounts for them the book of Genesis in its entirety, from creation through Joseph ruling in Egypt.

Truth be told, the value of Bible Friends is much more about the audio rather than the video. What you see on the screen seldom corresponds to the story you’re hearing. It shows crosses, depictions of Jesus in paintings, stained-glass windows—none of which is outlined in the Bible’s first book. The story is broken down not into the 50 chapters of Genesis, but into six digestible story chunks titled, “History of the Old Testament,” “The Great Flood,” “Abraham, the Man of Faith,” “Jacob and Esau,” “Jacob and Rachel,” and “Joseph and His Brethren.”

Anybody listening to this story will understand what the book of beginnings is all about. As such, it easily merits the Dove-Approved Seal for All Ages.

The Dove Take:

You may get more value listening to this movie than watching two kids standing in front of a talking owl. Still, it’s a faithful retelling of the high points of the book of Genesis, and sticking to that script, it’s hard to mess up.
