Lorna Doone

Synopsis
AandE’s original production brings to life R.D. Blackmore’s novel of romance and revenge. In the late 1600s, when Protestants rebelled against a Catholic monarchy, the aristocratic Doones terrorized a community in England. As a child, John Ridd (Richard Coyle) saw his father murdered by the Doones, but a chance meeting with Lorna (Amelia Warner), heiress to the family fortune, changes his life. Their love sparks the hatred of Carver Doone, leader of the clan, who wants Lorna for his own. The three-hour action adventure premiers on AandE, Sunday, 3/11/01 at 8pm ET/PT.
Dove Review
Not as poetic as “Romeo and Juliet,” but basically the same dilemma. Boy meets girl. They fall in love, but their clans don’t dig each other. So it’s off to war we go. Good storytelling, but lackluster performances.
