Dove Review

Parents and driver’s ed teachers, along with teens, will benefit from viewing this well-organized video presenting all the topics listed in the synopsis. I liked the reality factor of a father/son going out for the son’s first driving lesson. They were in a parking lot [good choice!], and the teen was typical in some of his questions. His father taught him to always use a Check List before driving: rear view mirror, side mirrors, tire pressure, seat comfortable, buckled-up, etc.

I didn’t agree with one statement, when two new teen drivers were driving through a construction zone, and the new driver said: “When you see a construction zone, give em a break!” My thought: “No!” You follow the posted signs/speed limit and flag man if present.

I appreciated that the ending dealt with driving after or while drinking. There was a person from M.A.D.D. [Mothers Against Drunk Drivers], who’s 17 year old son was killed by a drunk driver. This kind of in-your-face-reality is what teen drivers of today need, and it needs to be reinforced frequently, in my opinion. This is excellent material which has multiple uses in many settings: home, school, and driver’s training.
