Synopsis

Years before Father Lancaster Merrin helped save Regan MacNeil’s soul, he first encounters the demon Pazuzu in East Africa. Merrin’s initial battle with Pazuzu leads to the rediscovery of his faith.

Dove Review

Father Merrin, an archeologist, went to work in Africa three years after WW ll. He and his team discovered a buried church. Then they discovered an ancient cryptu nderneath the church that had remains of satanic rituals. All the town’s people believe that uncovering the church has set free some demons. Father Francis, part of Father Merrin’s team, thinks that a boy is possessed by a demon. Father Merrrin realizes that he has to get his faith back to deal with the evil. This horror and suspense film wasn’t the greatest movie. There were some disturbing scenes-for example, the viewer sees demon-like faces, and a man walks into a classroom full of kids and kills them. The viewers don’t see the actual killings but hear it and these characters are dead afterwards. There were some satanic rituals that occured such as the boy that was possessed was lifting himself, and was sending men flying across the room. This is definitely not a family movie.
