Be Still and Know that I am God

“Be Still” is an extraordinary film that demonstrates contemplative prayer as a vital part of our everyday lives and as a remedy for the ills of the frenzied, fast paced modern world. Featuring interviews with some of today’s most highly respected authors, educators, and ministers, like Dr. Henry Cloud, Dallas Willard, Max Lucado, and Beth Moore, “Be Still” examines the importance of silent reflective prayer as a way to truly be open to receiving God’s guidance. This remarkable film also features a useful “how to” section that shows how contemplative prayer can be used by anyone at any time to better one’s life and reaffirm that which is truly important.

Dove Review

This DVD concentrates on contemplative or meditative prayer. It is divided into seven categories: 1) Contemplative Prayer 2) Cloud of Witnesses 3) Being Still 4) Small Groups 5) Alone With The Lord 6) The Sound of Stillness 7) Contemplative Verses. Well known faces in the Christian community share their insights in brief interviews, and the group includes Max Lucado, Richard Foster, Dr. Henry Cloud and Beth Moore. Singer/songwriter Ginny Owens shares insights and sings, and the DVD section on “Contemplative Verses” includes actual Bible verses about waiting and being silent before God. Historical figures in Christianity are mentioned such as C.S. Lewis and St. Francis of Assisi. Even Ben Franklin is mentioned as an example of God’s grace flowing down to us, as the electrical current flowed down to him when he flew his kite. Anyone who longs to slow down from the fast pace of life and truly enter into God’s presence will enjoy this DVD immensely.
