The Cosby Show – Box Set: Season 5

The Cosby Show appeared on NBC from 1984 to 1992, becoming one of the most popular programs in the history of television. The Cosby Show depicted a close-knit and prosperous African-American family (The Huxtables) that dwelled in New York City. Dr. Heathcliff (OB-GYN) and Clair (attorney) Huxtable were a happily married, dual-profession couple with aspirations of raising their five children in an uplifting, positive environment. The Cosby Show held TV’s #1 slot for a record five consecutive years (1985 to 1990) and stayed in the Top 20 shows for all eight seasons it was on NBC.

Dove Review

The fifth season of ”The Cosby Show” definitely showed growth and change in the Huxtable family. As the children are getting older the topics and subject matter start to mature as well. Viewers see Cliff and Claire dealing with more teenage issues such as dressing appropriately, dating, and trust. Theo has a party that gets out of hand while the Huxtables are out and even Rudy stirs a little trouble with taking money this season. Viewers will see the arrival of Sondra and Elvin’s twins this season and laugh at Cliff’s dream where the men are pregnant. Although this wasn’t one of my favorite seasons there are still plenty of laughs and good episodes. We gladly award this DVD series our Dove “Family-Approved” Seal.
