Synopsis
Paul Stallings (John Ritter) is a talented polo player with the heart of a champion and a knack for the sport. But when the 21-year-old athlete takes a tumble that leaves him paralyzed from the waist down, his attitude changes. Depressed and defeated, Paul moves to his grandfather’s (Buddy Ebsen) farm, intending to sulk. But the wily old man has a different plan, pushing Paul to work on the life he still has left. When his outlook starts to improve, Paul’s renewed confidence helps him win over a beautiful girl (Carrie Fisher)—proof that a competitor’s spirit never dies.

John Ritter gives a strong performance as Paul Stallings, a gifted polo player who, following a great triumph, immediately has to deal with a tragic hand of fate – the fact he becomes paralyzed from the waist down. The only person seemingly suited to bringing out the best in him is a young woman named Marnie (Carrie Fisher). Fisher is also quite good in this movie. Marnie’s father doesn’t like the idea of Marnie liking a paralyzed man and another man (played by Robert Urich) has his eyes on her too. The story reaches a crescendo by film’s end and there is a lot to like about this dramatic story.
